Operating System Patches

Your operating system may need these patches in order for PMDF and other applications to operate.

Please note that Process Software is not permitted to redistribute these patches; you will need to contact the appropriate vendor to obtain such patches. Furthermore note that the vendors may have released patches which supercede those listed herein.

Solaris

Note to Solaris users: Solaris 8 systems should be running the latest Recommended Patch Cluster as reported by Sun Microsystems. Solaris 7 is not a supported OS.

For Solaris V2.6, the following patches are required:

SPARC: Sun patch 105181, revision -04 or later
x86: Sun patch 105182, revision -04 or later

Without these patches, various PMDF utilities will abort with errors such as:

libthread panic: fault in libthread critical section

SPARC: Sun patch 105755, revision -06 or later
x86: Sun patch 105756, revision -06 or later

These patches fix several BIND server and resolver problems, one of which may lead to hangs in the TCP SMTP client. Note that -06 includes security fix.

For Solaris V2.5.1, the following patches are required:

SPARC: Sun patch 103663, revision -13 or later
x86: Sun patch 103664, revision -13 or later

These patches fix several BIND server and resolver problems, one of which may lead to hangs in the TCP SMTP client.  Note that -13 includes security fix.

Tru64 Unix

On Tru64 Unix V4.0D systems, PMDF will not operate properly unless the DPORTL563 version (or later) of the DEC Pascal RTL is installed. (Note that this recent version of the DEC Pascal RTL supercedes the earlier DPORTL541 version included with the PMDF V5.1-9 CD-ROM and prior PMDF distributions.) Earlier versions of Tru64 Unix may also benefit from having this recent Pascal RTL installed.
