Installing PreciseMail Web Access TD 2.1.0 by Process Software under UNIX

 

1) Uncompress the pmwatd-2.1.0-X-Y.tar.gz package under a temporary directory (X is the OS, Y the architecture);

 

            gunzip pmwatd-2.1.0-X-Y.tar.gz

            tar xvf pmwatd-2.1.0-X-Y.tar

 

2) Execute the installation program:

 

            cd pmwatd-2.1.0/

      ./install

 

3) Enter the target directory where PreciseMail Web Access TD will be installed:

 

Installation directory [/opt/pmwatd]:

4) PreciseMail Web Access TD includes a web server with HTTP and HTTPS support, enter the port number where the Web Server (HTTP) and Secure Web Server (HTTPS) services will run. Use 80 for the HTTP port and 443 for the HTTPS port. If you already have a web server such as Apache running on port 80, configure PreciseMail Web Access TD to listen on an alternative port such as 8080.

 

PreciseMail Web Access TD includes a web server with HTTP and HTTPS support.

Please enter the port numbers where PreciseMail Web Access TD will listen

for connections.

5) The rest of the installation and initial configuration is done using the PreciseMail Web Access TD Web-Based Administration tool. To open the PreciseMail Web Access TD login screen, point your browser to http://your-server-address. If you entered a custom listen port such as 8080, open the login screen using http://your-server-address:8080. The following screen will be displayed:

 

 

Select your language from the list and login using ‘trueadmin with password ‘changeme’.

 

We strongly recommend changing this default password immediately after the first login.

 

 

6) Once the login is completed, the web administration screen will be displayed. After a few seconds, the Setup Wizard will popup automatically to help you perform the initial configuration of PreciseMail Web Access TD. If it does not appear automatically, make sure you do not have a pop-up blocker activated.

 

 

 

Enter your organization name, for instance ‘My Company, Inc.’. Then click Next.

 

 

 

PreciseMail Web Access TD is designed to work with existing POP3 or IMAP4 mail servers.

 

Select either POP or IMAP and enter the server host name and listening port. See the PreciseMail Web Access TD Server Management manual section “Configuration Scenarios” for more information. Click Next.

 

 

In this screen you configure the e-mail domains used to send and receive e-mails on your community. Please enter your domains using the Add button and click Next when done.

 

 

 

In this screen you configure the community administrator. This account is used to manage your community, create Users, Groups, Facilities and other administrative tasks. Make sure you complete this step as you will need to login as the community manager to perform most of the administration tasks such as User Management. Please enter a login and password, then click Next.

 

NOTE: When using PreciseMail Web Access TD as a POP or IMAP passthru, information entered here is ignored. Configuring a community administrator is done by promoting an existing user from within the Community Manager when logged in to PreciseMail Web Access TD as ‘trueadmin’. See the PreciseMail Web Access TD Server Management manual section “Creating Community Administrators” for more information.

 

 

 

In this screen you enter the product license. A valid license is required to run PreciseMail Web Access TD on your server. It is possible to obtain one automatically by clicking Obtain License, which will contact the Process Software servers and install the license on your machine. If you prefer to do a manual activation, send a request to info@process.com, copy your license code provided in the return email, paste it into the text box and click Update License. Once you have completed this procedure, click Next.

 

This is the last step of the wizard. To complete the process and create your community, click Create.

 

 

 

7) Open the login screen as described on step (5) and login to your community using the username and password you created on step (6). With this account you will be able to create other User accounts, Groups and manage other settings. Please refer to the Community Manager manual for more information about these procedures.
